About Dudley
News snippets: Here are some examples of projects undertaken by the Dudley Rotary Club:

Our lovely ticket sellers Dickie Davies and President Dennis
Celebrity Dinner: For many years the Club has held an annual fundraising dinner, usually with a sporting personality. This year the principal speaker was Dickie Davies, celebrated television sports presenter, supported by the hugely funny Irish comedian Dusty Young and a bevy of lovely girls selling raffle tickets. A total of over £6000 was raised for the Club's preferrred local and international charities.

Tsunami collection

Tsunami Disaster Appeal: The Dudley and Stourbridge Rotary Clubs and other nearby Rotarians joined forces for a major fundraising collection at the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in aid of the victims of the Boxing Day 2004 disaster. This one effort raised about £3000 but with other actions, personal donations and a matching grant from big-hearted local businessman Geoff Hill a sum of over £17,000 was soon raised.

Rotary House refurbishment: The Rotary Club of Dudley Housing Association continues its programme of modernisation and maintenance at Rotary House, a residence for elderly people built and managed by Dudley Rotarians. The management committee aims to ensure a high standard of kitchens, bathrooms, safety equipment and other amenities, including the landscaped gardens.

Best Trier Awards: The Rotary Club of Dudley continues to make awards to young pupils at various local primary schools who have been rated by their teachers as 'Best Trier of the Year'. The prizes are awarded to boys and girls who have shown outstanding efforts in all their school activities. Five schools now take part in the scheme.

Celebrating 100 years of Rotary with our contact clubs:
The Rotary Club of Dudley is twinned with The Rotary Club of Brest Côte des Légendes in Britanny, France, which in turn is twinned with the St Ingbert Club in Saarland, Germany. To mark the Centenary of Rotary International, members of the three clubs, their partners and families enjoyed a reunion weekend and celebration Dinner in May 2005 hosted by our French friends.
